Perfect Get Away

My wife and I along with our children (7+9) have spent the last two winter vacations (10/12 days) here and could not have found a better place to relax and spend quality time with each other. The care takers are exceptional and have been very accommodating. We love spending the day at the many beaches STJ offers and at night time we use the BBQ and just enjoy the huge deck with the priceless view of Coral Bay and the BVI. It is a short ride to Donkey Junction and Coral Bay if you want to get something to eat and have a drink. Being at the top of the hill allows for cooler nighs and a nice breeze. The house is equipped with everything you need so pack light and just enjoy. Can't wait for Feb 13'!

We'll be back

“Our 5th year on the island, and we've stayed in a different place every year.  The pictures on line do not begin to reflect the fabulous views.  Private, but close to our favorite snorkeling places.  We experienced an outage of the cable one evening and it was fixed the next am.  Equipped with everything.  We have just ordered a hot tub like the one at High House.”

What a View!

High House is a wonderful place to be when you are on St. John. The view is spectacular and the breezes are refreshing. Sitting on the wrap around front porch overlooking Coral Bay is a relaxing place to be at any time of the day. The house is clean, comfortable and since the bedrooms are on opposite sides of the main room, it offers plenty of privacy for 2 couples. Martha and Peter are exceptional hosts - meeting us at the dock and offering wonderful suggestions for things to do and see. We loved the eco-friendly environment and it is a very peaceful place to be. I would highly recommend this property to anyone especially if you want privacy, comfort and a view that is the best on the island.

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon during July 2010.  This house was perfect and fit everything that we wanted this vacation to be: fun, relaxing and a little bit secluded.  We literally felt like we had moved to St. John for the week that we were there.  We did some grocery shopping when we first arrived and cooked at the house on the grill outside a few nights.  Martha and Peter were great hosts that met us at the ferry dock, got us setup in the house, helped us find things to do on the island and were available just down the street if we needed anything else.  But the house itself was incredible: the sunrise views each morning over coral bay, the big kitchen for cooking, and the living space for just relaxing.  And the central location was perfect since we tried to visit all ends of the island.  By far, one of the best vacations we've ever had.

Our family of 4 stayed here last year. It was so wonderful we had to get one of our own. The house is clean and has everything you might need. The caretakers are extremely helpful in every way and helped make our stay comfortable, relaxing ,and carefree. One night when the power went out all over the island for a few hours we still had power so it never interrupted our evening.  The view is one of the best on the whole island and the hummingbirds loved the aloe in flower and the bananaquits were wonderful company. This house is private and quiet and so peaceful it was truly hard to leave. Twelve days was just barely long enough. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood in the early morning and the people were all friendly and welcoming. We have been coming to St. John for over 10 years and this was by far our favorite place to stay.   ENJOY !

We have been returning to High House every year since 1996. It is a very clean and well maintained by the owners who live nearby and are helpful in answering our concerns and questions.  It is located near the top of the mountain with 270 degree views from the deck, living room and both bedrooms. A perfect private get-away to kick back and relax.

We love it!

My husband, myself and our daughter travel from our blueberry farm in New England, to enjoy the fabulous views from this house.  It has a view of  East End in front of you with Tortola to the left and Coral Bay down to the right. We enjoy coffee on the deck in the morning and endless star gazing at night.  It is always clean and comfy when we arrive, it is our home in St John whenever we visit. Martha and Peter are like neighbors, you can call if you need something.

We usually buy groceries in town to do coffee and breakfast at the house, then pack the coolers from the pantry with sandwiches and drinks for a beach lunch (a beach is easy to find on the island) !  Eventually we come back to the house to shower and relax before heading out to dinner , we enjoy the local restaurants in Coral Bay.  In Cruz Bay the local guide may help you choose a place to eat or walk around and you'll find something (we enjoy the BBQ across from the post office).

We snorkel and dive which is easy to do in St John, you can rent snorkel and dive gear in Cruz Bay at the waterfront.  The hiking is great with trails all over for short or all day long adventures. The views are endless from all over this island but nothing beats the sunrise from high house,  WE love it!

March vacation from Boston

This was our third time back to Dreamweaver over a 10 year period.  We have come as a family with 2 to 4 children depending on the year. Our children range from high school to college to post college.  We are an outdoorsy group who like to hike, swim, sail, snorkel, and sit on the covered deck and read and enjoy the  views and watch the hummingbirds.

The caretakers at Dreamweaver have told us about various snorkeling sites and hikes that are off the beaten bath and we have enjoyed seeing the ruins, learning about the history of the island, and seeing a variety of fish, sea turtles and eels, rays and even sharks.

The views from the house are spectacular, you can watch the sunrise from your bed, and the breezes at night make sleeping comfortable.  There were just a few rain showers during our stays, but they were brief and the covered deck allowed us to continue to stay outside and eat meals outside without worries.

We would recommend this house to people who like to explore different parts of the island and different beaches and who like to sit and watch incredible sunrises and hummingbirds drink from the feeders and hawks playing in the air currents in the sky and boats sailing in and out of Coral Bay.  We give this rental an A+.

Great view, Great house

My husband and I stayed for a week in January 2013.  We have rented the go green house just up the street.  I think dreamweaver is a very nice home very cool at night (no need for A/C).  The house is well equipped and very comfortable.  I do hear the trucks during the day but not at night.  At night all you hear is natures symphony.  I like the washer and dryer. Very private.  The view is excellent.  I had no complaints the only thing I would have liked is the sun to shine on the deck a little longer but that is the way nature goes.  The people that rent it are VERY nice and accommodating.  I like the view a little bit better from High House though. Both homes are excellent choices.
